Our Pastors
Dane Schaudt
Senior Pastor
Pastor Dane became the Senior Pastor at Liberty Evangelical Free in July of 2006. Before that, he served 14 years as the Senior Pastor at Harvest Evangelical Free Church in Story City (a church plant). Pastor Dane is responsible for preaching, working with leadership, overseeing the staff, and assisting with the general shepherding of the flock. Pastor Dane is a graduate of Northeast Missouri State University (now Truman State) with a degree in secondary education. He received an M-Div from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. He has served on several Central District boards throughout his 30+ years of ministry within the district.
Pastor Dane is married to his wife Donna, who is currently a third-grade teacher in the PCM school district. They have 4 adult children. Pastor Dane enjoys walking, riding bikes, reading, visiting national parks, attending high school & college sporting events, and encouraging other Pastors.
Some of Pastor Dane's favorite verses are 1 Timothy 4:12b-13 “…set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith, and in purity… devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture, to preaching and to teaching.”
Brian Koelsch
Pastor of Discipleship
Pastor Brian became the Discipleship Pastor here at Liberty in March of 2024. He has been in full-time pastoral ministry for over 10 years. Pastor Brian oversees discipleship, young adult ministries, Life groups, and assimilation ministries here at Liberty. He and his family moved to Iowa from the Kansas City area where he graduated from Calvary University.
Pastor Brian is married to his wonderful wife Annie. They have eleven children and seven grandchildren. Pastor Brian enjoys hiking, camping, reading, going on dates with his wife, and exploring with his children. Pastor Brian is passionate about cultivating a discipleship culture here at liberty where everyone is radically growing in their faith.
Pastor Brian’s favorite Bible verse is Romans 10:9; “if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved”.
Rob Sanders
Pastor of Student Ministries
Pastor Rob was called to be the Student Ministries Pastor at Liberty Evangelical Free in February of 2014. Before joining Liberty, Rob was the Youth and Families Pastor at Keokuk Evangelical Free Church in Keokuk, Iowa for 11 years. He is a graduate of Hannibal LaGrange University. Rob is responsible for the youth ministries at Liberty E-Free and oversees the children’s ministries.
The greatest joy and gift from God that Rob has is his family. Rob and Shannon have been married since 2000 and are blessed to have three children: Ashlynn, Christian, and Gabrielle who keep life fun and exciting.
They love to have a home that is open to teens and friends that they are journeying through life with. Rob enjoys all kinds of music as well as singing or playing the guitar or drums whenever the opportunity arises. Weightlifting, playing tennis, softball or any other sport, watching movies, long walks with his wife, going to sporting events, working on the house or landscaping, interacting with other youth pastors and spending quality time with the family are a few of the fun things that Rob likes to do.
Rob strives to remind himself daily to live Galatians 2:20 “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God who loved me and gave Himself for me.
